KARLOS ARGUIÑANO inspired me in 2007.

I want you to know a little more about the chef who hooks you the most (he is partly to blame for the fact that I dedicate myself to cooking professionally today, and that is when you see him on TV so happy, you say, I want to be like he!!!).

Without a doubt, few chefs in the world can boast such a multifaceted curriculum.

With his friendliness and good humor, he has been able to conquer thousands and thousands of cooking enthusiasts, eager to know all the secrets of some delicious, rich and well-founded dishes and recipes!

It is very likely that if someone decided to conduct a survey to find out the name of the most popular spanish chef among citizens, the famous chef KARLOS ARGUIÑANO would occupy, if not the first, one of the top positions in the ranking.

And it is clear that the public has always felt a special predilection for this friendly Basque, born in Beasain (Guipúzcoa) on September 6, 1948, and whose love of cooking comes from a very young age.

His mother´s handicap and his status as the "oldest of four siblings" wouuld soon lead him to help with the housework, which obviusly included preparing breakfasts, lunches or dinners for the whole family.

And, such was his taste for pots and pans that, although he got a first job as a sheet metal worker at the Beasain train factory, at the age of 17 he decided to enroll in the "Euromar Hotel School" in Zarautz, where he had the opportunity to coincide with the great chefs Pedro Subijana or Ramón Roteta today.

Once he finished his studies, he worked at the famous Hotel María Cristina, a stay after which he began to develop his professional work at the no less prestigious Hotel Londres, both in San Sebastian.

Already in 1970, ARGUIÑANO went on to direct the kitchens of the "Zarautz Golf Club" at a time when the movement baptized as "New Basque Cuisine" was emerging strongly. A current in which ARGUIÑANO actively participated along with Juan Mari Arzak, his former classmates Subijana and Roteta, or Juan Castillo, among others.

And finally, his dream come true in 1978, with the opening of his own restaurant, expanded 11 years later in what is now known as "Karlos Arguiñano Hotel-Restaurant". However, the cook´s concerns never seemed and never seem to end: a successful television presenter for years, the chef has also taught cooking classes (in 1996 he opened the "Alaia Cooking Academy" also in Zarautz), a member of all kinds of gastronomic juries, conferences, talks, even starring in fims like Airbag, The King of the Farm or Marian Year.

Father of six children, he claims to have in his wife, Luisi, the support of much of his personal and professional success.
